The controls on this page are used to specify the type of comparison that should be used to compare files of certain types.
When Merge needs to open a new comparison window, the names of the files being compared are checked against the patterns listed for each comparison type. If a pattern matches the file names, then its associated comparison type is used to perform the comparison. If no patterns match, a text comparison is used.
Comparison types and file patterns
This control shows various types of comparison and the filename patterns of the files for which they should be used.
Click this button to display a window that you can use to edit the file patterns and filter program associated with the selected comparison type. For more information about patterns and filters, see the Edit File Type page.
